UWS Co-op
merging prewar modern —
BC—OA merged a contemporary hand with some classic Pre-War detailing for the renovation of this 1923 co-op apartment near Central Park West. Working with the existing layout, we proposed minor changes with major impact including opening up and extending the kitchen into the dining space and expanding the master bathroom. Traditional base moldings complement a modern door reveal detail, and a decision to restore and reuse the original brass doorknobs led to the selection of warm metal fixtures and details in the custom design of the dining table and lighting.

–Custom millwork and a contemporary floor contrast traditional details
–An exposed brick shaft anchored the corner where a wall once stood, creating a small, confined kitchen. Removing the wall and wrapping the kitchen storage into the common space opens up the entire apartment
not quite mid-century meets modern on upper west side
–Master bedroom with built-in window desk
